Big Mike's Trading Blog

Day trading futures, discussing money management and trade management techniques, and more

Site enhancements, forum coming

The response to my blog has been overwhelming.  In less than 60 days it has grown into a nice community receiving nearly 1,000 hits a day.

I know alot of you have requested the ability to more easily share ideas, pictures, chart templates, Ninja files, etc.  So, I wanted to let you know that I am going to setup a forum on the site.  The forum will allow us to organize our thoughts and files, it should help quite a bit.

But, what I really want is to build a community with a purpose.  I've learned a lot from the users of my blog, and I hope that you've learned from me as well as from each other.  In that spirit, I want to advance this cooperation to the next level.

My thoughts are to create the ability for us to work as a group on a community project where our goal is mutually beneficial.  Whether it be developing indicators or mechanical and automated systems, I think the community has the talent and ideas to pull this off.

Our forum is not going to compete with the Ninja forums or Forex Factory or Traders Lab.  Our forum will have a very different objective.

More to come -- but in the mean time, please leave your comments or contact me with your specific ideas on how to take this to the next level.

Mike

Mike, deep thanks for putting this together. I've only been involved for a day, but my first impression is very positive indeed. The site itself and the interaction of the members suggested that a much longer time period... there is a sense of maturity that pervades.

I have long had a strong interest in collaboration across time and place (actually wrote my M.S. thesis on this topic) so "I'M IN" so to speak. I'll happily contribute whatever I can in organization and furthering the purpose. My main interest is in developing a robust auto-trading strategy. I have developed one in ensign windows, but because ensign doesn't submit orders, I recently decided to start using NT... on a steep learning curve at this point.

I'll do some serious thinking on your intentions and get back to you with more detail.. probably via email (although a topical dialogue data store would be the best venue).

Hi Mike,
Some member posted PRC indicator looks real nice. Can you do the raising, falling color for it. I tried but it was more complicated than I thought. TIA.

When I go to this page Firefox gives me the dropdown message 'Additional plugins are required to display all media on this page'. If I click install it just suggests installing Quicktime which I've verified is already installed and working. Any ideas?

Also the spinning keyword thingy is cool but it makes my CPU usage spike every time my mouse crosses it.

Nevermind the plugin post above, it went away after restoring Firefox to undo some recent fiddling. Mozbackup is very handy for that sort of thing.

I have more ideas than time so I'd love to contribute to developing a strategy or method. I think it's a great idea.
